Bigger letdown: This or GTA4??

The last time I was this disappointed in a game was Grand Theft Auto 4. The new AVP sucks hard, especially compared to the original PC games. Maybe if I hadn't played the originals I might have a different opinion, but I have and it's impossible not to compare them. They just got absolutely everything wrong! The alien is a wimp, Predator weapons suck, people can "block" your attacks. So, so stupid.

"Well?" I pressed. "How did you feel about the end of the world?"
"Curious," she said.

"ALIEN IS A WIMP' if i recall correctly, in the pc avp game the alien could be killed by a pulse rifle within seconds, in this game it takes nearly a full clip.

'PREDATOR WEAPONS ARE WEAK' hah! good thing the smartdisk can one shot marines then eh?

'YOU CAN BLOCK ATTACKS' yes, its called giving the marines a chance of winning for once

the game is fine, you just suck at it

last game played: Aliens vs Predator (xbox 360) 8/10

You recall incorrectly. I never said Predator weapons are weak, I said they suck. And as for the blocks, it completely deflates the little realism this game has. I never said I had trouble with the game, I beat all three campaigns in a matter of hours, so I don't suck at it.

The game itself sucks, compared to the originals.

wow for one EVERYBODY BEAT THE CAMPAIGNS IN HOURS! their short, thats not very impressive of you

secondly saying the pred weapons suck and calling them weak is the same thing

thirdly being able to block isnt unrealistic. your saying if you were being attacked by an alien in real life and you couldnt run away you wouldnt block the attack?

oh and by the way, nice little comment at the end. its just so full of wit! really though you never owned me in any way and yes, you do suck at the game

last game played: Mass Effect 2 (xbox 360)

He just sucks at it and is disappointed that the pirated version he's got doesn't have multiplayer.

But then of course, if he went online then he would get hiss ass kicked by all the "weak predators" and "wimpy aliens".

If you actually knew how to play this game you wouldn't have had any problems with the Predator/Alien campaigns.

I don't understand why, if someone doesn't like the game, they are labeled as "sucking at the game" or themselves being poor players. It's just someone's opinion. Personally, I am very disappointed with this release, considering the game has been in development for 2 to 2 1/2 years. The combo system can be a blessing and a hindrance in many cases (specifically in the Alien's case with a "broken" sticking system). I know that the combo system is useful in making the action more "up close", however, a dodging system may have been an option as well.

The multiplayer level selection is strategically boring and the online server set up is pretty poor. The single player campaign also suffers from poor level design and lack of geographical variety/coordination.

Thankfully, the AVP 2 I still own on PC and use it as a point of reference. The game is, of course, outdated in graphics and some gameplay elements, however, it's still impressive in that it outdoes this latest iteration in many cases.

???Pirated version??? I don't even know how one would go about that.

Didn't realize you knew and and talked to everyone who owns this game. My mistake.

The original PC games did very well without blocking, and though now dated graphically, own this version in every other way. A shame.

I'd say probably this is a bigger disappointment, though I was also VERY disappointed in GTA4 and I wouldn't call AvP3 a TERRIBLE game, just a disappointing one.

With GTA4, I'd really enjoyed the previous games, even though I felt they were starting to get a bit "samey" (the genre rather than the games). GTA3 started the legendary formula that SO many others would emulate. Vice City had a fun plot and characters, while San Andreas introduced a lot of new stuff. GTA4, while impressive at a glace, quickly annoyed me by being a major step back. I'd previously enjoyed (for example) The Getaway (despite its flaws) for being cinematic if linear, but GTA was always about freedom and FUN. GTA4 instead threw this out the window. Fortunately, Saints Row 2 came along and saw what people wanted, and... well... its probably one of my top five games of all time!

AvP(3) was more disappointing not only because - like GTA4, I feel it was a big step back rather than an improvement on, the previous games (on PC), but because being such a HUGE Aliens fan, I had a lot higher demands and expectations. Little things like the "wrong" smartgun sound really bugged me, even if it means nothing to the casual fan or player. Puzzling game design like no crouch button (that's like leaving out a jump button!), bugged multiplayer that literally takes 5-15 minutes to connect to matches (and then dumps you when the host leaves!), bland survivor mode and - worst of all - VERY linear, uninspired and short single player campaigns, make the game honestly feel like it was made ten years ago.

Neither GTA4 or AvP3 are BAD games, and AvP gets a lot of (perhaps undeserved) leeway from me because I am such a huge fan of the Aliens franchise, but both games are nonetheless very "disappointing" indeed, in terms of what they could/should have been.

@ DarkseidInNameOnly - Sorry for the confusion, I was just pulling reasons out of my ass like the OP did.
It's easy going around yelling stuff and calling them facts just because it's your opinion.
And to the OP: I see that the main reason this game sucks (in your opinion) is the ability of the humans to block your attacks.
Then I guess you think that the Street Fighter series, Mortal Kombat series, any game that features a shield, etc suck?
Please tell me if I am wrong.
You keep comparing this to the old games. I do agree, the old ones (especially AVP2) were awesome for their time. But now you keep bashing this game for keeping the same formula and adding new stuff? How does that make sense, tell me!
It has the EXACT same things as the old games, only improved upon. And yet you think it sucks.

Let me give you an example: someone says he enjoys riding the train to work, even though it takes him 2 hours. But then you make him ride another train with the exact interior, but different exterior and it's 4 times faster, and he says "OMG THIS TRAIN SUCKS SO HARD!!!"
Do you understand my confusion? It has the same campaigns as AVP 2 - the Predator campaign is fast paced and a little tactical, the Alien one is just a constant frenzy and the Human one is a very good horror experience. The only different things are the new graphics and gameplay elements added on TOP of that.

So based on your arguments I do not see the logic behind the complete "suckage" of this game.

Maybe if you said "blocking is stupid because *enter argument here*" or you know, presented an actual valid argument, I would understand you. But as it is, I don't and you just seem like a whiner who had problems either finishing the campaign or couldn't stay alive in online for more than 30 seconds.

Both GTA 4 and this one were very disappointing but I gotta say this one is worse. I remember playing it for a couple days then returning it because of the clunky controls and short gameplay.
