Worst. Movie. Ever.

The Adventurer: The Curse of the Midas Box has got to be the worst movie I have ever seen. I NEVER review movies. some are good, some are bad. But, none to this point have prompted me to create an iMDB account, repeatedly verify my account and re-login multiple times, etc...just so i could write a review in order to save others from the misery that i just went through.

This has a release date of Jan 2014, but for some reason it is available on DirecTv's PPV.

Terrible acting, predictable outcomes, boring plot, boring characters, and on...and on...and on.

I'm not going to waste my time or yours any further in explaining, but just trust me- don't spend a dime on this complete wast of time.

reply

Could you be more specific? I had hoped that this would resemble National Treasure and planned to watch it tonight on DTV.

Thank you

reply

I already did explain. Bad acting, horribly boring plot, just to name a quick two reasons. National Treasure would put this movie to shame.

I really would not waste my money on this.

reply

Seriously Nick Cage is about the worst actor on the planet. And national treasure and sequel are full of immense plot holes.

Both this film and national Treasure are 3/10 stars if you are an adult and 7/10 for adolescents

reply

it's got a price of 12 bucks on directv.... that's enough to insure that i will never see it...

Well the book WAS by GP Taylor.

@Mathew-aiken: Well done good Sir. You are the Dr. Oz of movie reviewers...Plan to avoid it as I would a typical Tom Cruise debacle.

reply

Really?? I found it to be very good for a movie that wasn't mainstreamed. It is the second one that I liked that didn't make it to the big screen. The other was "The Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec". They don't get much advertisement so alot of people didn't hear of them, I for one am glad I did as did all my grandkids.

Spoiler. The Midas weapon wouldn't be considered an ultimate weapon in an age of firearms. They were using modern designs, not flintlock weapons, or even double action. When someone with a lever action Winchester 1873 repeating rifle or even a Colt 1873 single action revolver could easily take out the wielder of the ultimate weapon, it loses some of its impressiveness as a world dominating device. Hell, even a Gatling gun from 1862, or a Maxim gun from 1889 would create far more havoc on a battle field than the Midas weapon, though admittedly less portable. Like the rest of the film, the ultimate weapon was disappointing too.

reply

This movie is terrible...who are you gonna trust me or the person with 'grandkids' or the person rambling on about the relevance of a weapon? Good lord.

reply

I would trust the person with the grandkids. They are the target market for the movie. It is certainly not high art, and it might not be an Oscar contender, but it is an entertaining movie which we enjoyed.
