That waterpark zipline was so unrealistic

I know its just a movie but there is no way in hell a ride like that could exist. At least one person would probably die a week.

I tried to find "probaully" in dictionary, but I failed.

You just made my day so much better.

"Blinkin' fix your boobs. You look like a bleeding picasso."

I laughed so hard when the guy told his friend to go down using his legs. The biggest laugh in my head there was "he's not gonna be able to let go"

"You will never be one of the people!"

reply

It was a lawsuit waiting to happen - people would be waiting in line to hurt themselves on purpose.

reply

Not people. Americans.

reply

thank god somebody said it, that thing looked EXTREMELY dangerous, a child could easily lose their grip and land hard on the tiles, breaking their neck or hurting themselves very badly.

I was sitting thinking "do real american waterparks have those deathtraps?" obviously not, and ive been to wet n wild

reply

many water parks have zip lines.

reply

I agree insane, one slippery handle and your dead. Any fall greater then your own height can kill you

What up is up and whats down is down....or is it?

There is one at a waterpark by me it's called Noah's Ark

Jestone I went to Noahs ark and rode that zipline its pretty short and the whole thing is in the water. Theres also a bigger one nextdoor to the park but its more like a ride and they strap you in the whole time.

A zipline at a waterpark is realistic. Sandler married to Hayek? Not so much. that should have been the first indication you were watching a Pinnocchio fantasy film about men who never grow up.

Incidentally, didn't one of these guys operate a rope-swing at the lake and slam into a tree? I'm just not seeing his skills with a zip-line being any better.

"Atlas Shrugged"- Coming soon to PPV --See it again!

reply

There is one at Disney's Blizzard Beach in the area that is specified for kids, pre-teens, but like PP's have said, it is entirely over water and it is a bar and not 2 handles on ropes that can be tangled.

reply

Y'know, I used to say the same exact thing about Sandler and his various on-screen romances - that they were all ultra-mega-hotties. Google his wife. You'll see that we're both wrong.

I thought the same thing OP, however when I grew up there was a ride just like that, however a big difference was the entire zipline was over water such that you could release at any time early, right on, or late and be fine. Also it wasn't more than say 10 - 20 feet from the waterline as well unlike the movie.

In fact when I was young (some 30 years ago) there was a park where I grew up (rancho park) in SoCal which had three major wood structures which all had rope lines connecting each. And the highest one you could only reach via the rope swing. It was totally awesome but obviously is not there today as that highest platform was at least 17+ feet off the ground and in these days is a lawyers wet dream sadly...

So yeah as it was depicted in the movie, totally unrealistic and I'm a bit surprised they did it the way they did probably knowing most the audience would be thinking "yeah right..." It did bounce me out of the movie a little bit but you just have to roll with some things...

there is a zip line at a water park in Washington state

reply

Oh, that was the most unrealistic thing you found in the whole movie, so unrealistic that you had to post about it? And the fact that a shlub like Sandler could get a stone-cold smokin' hottie like Salma Hayek, that doesn't upset you? Or that that pimple, Rob Schneider, could possibly have passed any of his genes onto two of his daughters?

Just kidding, I thought exactly the same thing when I saw that zipline. Total death trap.

However, there used to be a place here in the NY Metro area, Action Park, that had "rides" that were insanely dangerous. That tarzan swing that Kevin James was on? Yeah, they had one of those. They also had something called an Alpine Slide that was insanely dangerous. They had to close the place down when people started dying. Look it up, it's true. And it was AWESOME! Best place ever.

The zipline would make sense if there was water under the entire line on the way down but the concrete on the way down in the movie would never worki. It is a movie so you can get away with that. If it was real i would be there watching all the nasty accidents, would be pretty wild.

reply

I actually thought that the zipline was pretty cool.

Action Park was fantastic!!! Had my 8th grade class trip there; fortunately nobody died that day.
