~~FINAL LIST OF FLAWS IN INCEPTION~~

PLOTHOLES

>>> There was no need of Inception on Mal as Cobb could have just shot her. There is no clarity in the movie for the consequence for a person who dies in Limbo without being aware that he/she is dreaming.

>>> Nothing happens to the bodies of all others in Room No. 528 who were connected to the device on 2nd level, when the van on 1st level hit the bridge thrusting Arthur's body on 2nd level by almost 20 feets.

>>> There was no need for Mal to frame Cobb. If she believed that she was still dreaming, she would have decided to die alone and could wake Cobb up in reality.

SUSPENSIONS OF DISBELIEF

>>> The team were on Fischer's mercy that he will come up with a thought like his dad was disappointed because he (Fischer) tried to be like his dad. There was no effort by the team on this part. Fischer could have thought anything else such as his dad was disappointed because he didn’t perform well or vast number of other possible thoughts. Even if we accept the flaw, its co-relation which concludes to his dad's intention of having Fischer to work as his man does not solve the purpose. Fischer could still work as an employee and appoint a new CEO or Chairman etc. and the company can still continue. (The idea planted at the end on 3rd level was not dissolution of the company but Fischer's dad's preference of not taking over his position). The team just got lucky.

>>> There are no wires/tubes connected to each other on the instance Cobb and Saito wake up in the flight due to kick of shooting themselves contradictory to the fact they have to stay connected only then Saito can shoot Cobb.

>>> If we consider the act of Project Inception on Third Level Level, the occurrence of Avalanche and Explosion on Fort coincides to the Van hitting the bridge and Van hitting the water. Considering the time dilation 1:20, the Van takes 6 seconds to fall and hit the water (as Arthur gets two minutes in level 2 as said by Cobb). Six Seconds on level 1 will equate to 0.30 seconds in Reality. So most of the things that happened in snow level i.e. The team fighting with the guards, taking decisions, entry into the fort, fighting the enemies from inside the fort, Fischer getting shot, Fischer being revived, Fischer made to talk with his dad, the Explosion etc. - All happened in 0.30 seconds on reality.

>>> Arthur does hell lot of things within 2 minutes on dream level 2.

UTILIZATION OF ARTISTIC LICENSE BY ESCAPING FROM SENSIBILITY AND LOGIC OF SCIENCE

>>> Pasiv Device injects/circulates the drug through I.V. enabling the dreamers to share a dream. Its scientifically implausible to have such an action done by a drug which is charged through blood vessels and the dreamer transmits and receives information (either digital or biochemical), the exchange of data of information shared by the dreamers which include the entire dreamscape, the actions, each and every minor details, dialog exchange etc.

UNORIGINALITY

>>> Inception is very much influenced from 1. Dreamscape 2. eXistenZ 3. Paprika 4. The Matrix

MEDIOCRITY

>>> There are many scenes which make it quite amateurishly directed and mediocre. Like Ariadne's making of a simple maze and justifying her actions of an efficient Architect and the Lame action choreography on snow level.

Self-Proclaimed Rules which attributes to fairy tale not a thriller

>>> One can feel the pain of a fatal wound in a dream and feel that he is almost dying.

>>> One can modify the designs of architecture anytime to fit to the actions intended based on information that they receive. The Room below 528 will not be 428 but 491.

>>> The zero gravity due to fall on 1st level can only be felt on 2nd level and not on 3rd. Its not even implied that the 3rd level dreamers should experience 'partial' gravity pull (like that on Moon) going by the sense which movie establishes that the effects becomes lesser in deeper dreaming (like that of pain)

>>> One can make perfect monuments, structures, cities, houses, furniture, accessories in Limbo which will not be modified automatically by subconscious and Even if a person visits Limbo second time after long, all those things will still remain as it is.

>>> Trying to make a person come alive in the same level after getting shot, he/she will forget the dream memories.

Alternate Interpretations

>>> It was all a dream interpretation does not form a Precise Plot. And if its plotless, then its quite pointless.

>>> The Flight Dream theory can explain all the flaws. If Cobb was just a passenger on the plane and all others being strangers, the flaws and plotholes can be discredited since anything can happen in a dream. But then, it leaves the movie like Mulholland Dr. and Stay (2005) but well-executed.

Nolan is the greatest director of movie trailers ever. seriously the visuals and sound design of his trailers are breathtaking.
the movies on the other hand are pretentious garbage. pubertal mystery box nonsense pretending to be profound and "complex".
your list of flaws is well-meant but pointless.

reply

How is it pointless ?

The movie takes lot of liberties by escaping logic of science and furthermore Nolan keeps feeding his self-proclaimed rules to fit the story.

Its a breathtaking movie but one can't ignore the glaring plot holes.

Time really hangs heavy on your hands, doesn’t it?

A tip: brevity is the soul of wit.

reply

it seems you didn't understand the meta referencing that nolan was aiming for.
DREAM = CINEMA.

i had a problam with that aswell in my first viewing but after thinking about that i understood, and my eyes open to just how much clever the movie really is.

the thing is, just as the subject of the dream fills in the gaps with his subconscious- the viewer does that aswell. fisher get to that conclusion not from some kind of analytical or logical moves of an event - but out of the precpetive of the auidience. WE ARE THE ONES who filles in the gaps because we know what is supposed to happen.

'>>> There was no need for Mal to frame Cobb. If she believed that she was still dreaming, she would have decided to die alone and could wake Cobb up in reality.'

This makes sense.

reply

honestly i don't get all the HYPE about this movie. it's not that great.

LOL

reply

I'm not reading all of that.

reply

Very true analysis.

Nolan can only impress his dumb fanboys.
