Should've called it 'In the Grandmotherhood'

...because these women are old enough to be grandmothers. And they're having babies. Exactly what part of the US population is this demographic?

I know, older women executives who put their child-bearing years on hold in order to pursue a career.

These actresses are great comediennes. Without having seen a show and just from watching the previews I was like WTF? It's like seeing some older but beautiful actress play Juliet -- it's ridiculous.

I'm a middle-aged woman and I'm not offended, I'm just nonplussed.

When Lucy was having babies she was portraying having babies. When she had teenagers that was Lucy's comedy.

Unimaginative writing for middle-aged women creates this kind of silly combos. Isn't there anything between Bay Watch and Golden Girls for us?

Lucy was 39 when she had her first child!! Which means when her children were teenagers she was in her 50's.

On this show Megan Mullally's character is 50 just like in real life and in the show she's with a teenage son. That seems very believable!!! and Jessica St. Clair is young. and Cheryl Hines has a 5 year old girl, but in the show she has an 11 year old and a baby. What puzzling about that?

My mother is 48 and has a soon to be 28 year old son, 17 year old daughter (me), and a soon to be 12 year old daughter. As far as I could tell from the previews one of the kids looked around my sister's age. Meryl Streep is 59 I think and she has a 17 year old. I really don't see how it is unbelieveable.

I definitely thought Lucy was younger when she did her show. A real pioneer. For that I stand corrected.

Megan and Cheryl are too old IMO representing motherhood. Megan's pregnant in this. Megan's 50. What part of that is not weird? I know I can't relate.

I am only commenting on this because like everyone's pointing out it's being advertised to death.

And at the same time ABC is dumping Life on Mars.

Megan is not pregnant on the show!! She fakes it, it's what funny about it, she puts a stuffed animal in her shirt and pretents she's pregnant to get all the perks pregnant woman get. In the show she tells Jessica St. Clair she's pregnant and she goes

"OMG YOU ARE"...(blah blah blah, i don't remember what she said) and then Megan says "NO I'M KIDDING! I'M NOT PREGNANT, I DON'T EVEN HAVE MY PERIOD ANYMORE".

I just saw the show and that's what happens, and Megan even mentions a whole bunch of times she's 50 so she can't be pregnant!

So the info you got from the show is false. Megan isn't pregnant!
Watch the show, it's funny! :-)

I believe there isn't a specific age for kids. I admire Lucy for having her kids at 39 and 41 especially in the 1950's.

For some it works and others it can't. I remember when Megan Mullally got married in 2002 or 2003(don't remember) she wanted to get pregnant but didn't work. and she was like 45. Look at Sarah Palin, 44 and got pregnant! As long a you got your period, anything can happen!!!

I'm only 19, but don't expect to start a family until my 30s, if its before its ok, but not planning on it. So saying these women from this show are too old is JUST RIDICULOUS!!!

Thank you Cjd2112. And I don't think Flaggay53 even watched the show or either paid attention cause if they had they would have known Megan was faking being pregnant. Why post a thread when you only know half of the story?

My son's 39 so I guess I qualify as a mother but I also know I don't speak for all mothers. They come in all shapes and sizes.

And it all really doesn't matter. I just watched the first episode and it was so unfunny that I struggled to watch the entire thing.

For those of you who enjoyed it, great. I won't bother watching it again.

The critics apparently agree but that doesn't mean much to the average TV viewer.
