Farhan should stick to directing

I think Farhan is no good at all in the acting department. His face bears only one expression. He over did the loser bit - so much so that it really looked fake! I just was not able to discern enough emotion in his eyes to be expressive - this had made the director's job even more difficult. Agreed he is good looking and can read a situation but emoting I'm afraid is not his forte. And there is just too much of Farhan there. I think more than 95% of the screen presence was his - it was a tad boring.
I also found a too quick departure from the 'loser' role to the 'winner' role - it somehow did not jell. There were certainly two or three rather thrilling and heart stopping moments - but it all ended in an anti climax! It's like reading a great suspense thriller which has a tame ending. May be the story line could have been more chilling towards the end like Primal Fear. It could made the audience gasp, think and dwell on the plausibility of it all instead of going home disappointed.
Deepika was good in her limited role.

I disagree.
Farhan is a good actor, especially his voice is different and very effective for dialogues. Regarding his expressions, I think any extra effort would have put him in a category of overacting like srk.

Yeah, departure from loser to winner was quick. But it was justified through his credentials. He was an accomplished man in education but his social life was bad. He was following wrong principals, like saying yes to everyone and feeling inner guilt. But the moment he learned about his mistakes, things changed immediately for him.
I have been in that situation myself.

i totally disagree....u have no clue what good acting is all about if u say farhan akhtar cant act....he is one o the indian actors who acts and not overacts....he is one guy who doesnt do *beep* movies whic most of the 'bollywood'does

This was a fantastic perfomance from farhan. i think hes developing into a proper method actor. Of course if you prefer SRK type overacting you wont like farhan.

God I hate it when people think 2 opposite poles of something can't be both appreciated. The world is a whole; not a half. Is it a crime to love Farhan AND SRK (or better still, both for Don!) AND Aamir AND Hrithik?

The transformation was too fast, but gladly, unlike lower rate Hollywood movies, it was not the main point here.

Farhan is one of the best I've seen in 15 years of watching Indian movies.

He needs to understand that he does not have the capability to play versatile roles. Thios role was not suited to him. He was okay in 'Rock on' and 'Luck by chance'.

Was that post intended to be a response to my comment ?. If it was then I was only saying that Farhan should not have done this role. I do not feel that he is versatile as yet to play a challenging role like this. However there is no doubt he can act.

I did not mean to hurt anyone's feelings. I was just stating my opinion. I don't mind if anybody chooses to disagree.

Not your reply! The reply was for that donkey, who has started this topic. And yeah...Farhan did a tremendous job. U shouldn't say that. If movies like these are going to be made, actors like Farhan are needed for this job. Only Deepika & that (stupid) Psychiatrist was not suitable for the role. Everybody else did a magnificent job (even the telephone set seller).

Maybe Farhan is not glamorous and sooo good looking. But, he acts so well. His expressions were really good & it wasn't a 'Art'-film. So, stop complaining bout the role. And, as a SRK & Sallu fan...u guys should watch their over expression filled movies. :)

It's okay. But I felt Farhan did the best to his abilities. He does come across as a natural actor but maybe he only needed to improve on his negative shades. I hope it does make more innovative movies in the future. Don 2 should be interesting I hope. Do you feel that Deepika's role should have been played by somebody else ?. If so, who ?.
