Strange editing at the end Plus question (Major Spoilers)

It kind of threw me off for a moment when it went from everyone enjoying themselves to screaming in the hospital and then back again.
Were the happy moments of everyone eating inside right before the girl went out and saw her brother robbing the market place taking place about a year after Sang-Hoon died?I also didn't catch what the note said that was left for her drunken father either in all of this.
I just feel like I missed something here at the end.

It was weird editing for sure.
Restaurant scene is the present, so is the scene where girl sees her brother demolishing street vendor carts.
During the restaurant scene, there's a brief flashback to hospital with Sanghoon.
It's to show the viewers why they get along so well even though they've only met for the first time at the kid's party (they grieved together).
The note to that father was by the girl, saying something like 'I'll be running late, eat dinner by yourself.'

I thought it was really effective. Its bittersweet. Despite of yet and because the protagonists brutal death, the small group of people are brought together by their grief.

In short, the family, the best friend and the girl escaped the circle or violence and started a new life. Sanghoon and the girls brother; later seen as the very visage of what Sanghoon was in his prime; didn't.

This is where I have questions about the ending. Yes they had distanced themselves from violence, however Sanghoon's best friend's new restaurant was built on acquiring money from violence. Along with Yeon-Hue seeing her brother committing violence in the final scene, Ddongpari conveyed violence's endless circle in society. They had not completely escaped violence.

"I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not".
