anywhere i can find this with decent english subtitles?
this and a few other nyaff 09 films sound brilliant and beautiful (i'm not as much into the action and insane stuff as i was younger, now i'm more into the artistic stuff), but for some reason, unlike most years, i can't find any of these ones bootleg on ebay or anywhere
i wish i spoke korean so i wouldn't need the subs but unfortunately i do, and hopefully they are well translated.

When I saw this at Fantasia Film Fest some people from the distribution company was present. I am guessing DVD will be released officially in North America (maybe next year??).

Some mistakes are too much fun to make only once.

awwwwesome, good to hear. I know I could always buy bootlegs when it comes to these interesting films shown at NYAFF but its nice when they get distributed. for instance, the film The Clone Comes Home, sounds right up my alley but havent been able to find a bootleg or anything.

but this movie is probably the one that intrigues me the most. Glad it got picked up for US distro.

There's definitely one around, because the print at the Sydney Film Festival had good subtitles

I watched this film today. Wow. It is just riveting. One of the best films about domestic violence, and it's effect's that you'll ever see. Yang Ik-June’s performance alone makes this film worth seeing. Definitely one of the best SK films I've ever seen. I loved the fact that it avoided a lot the cliche's, and sterotypes. I eagerly anticipate Yang Ik-June’s next film.

Brilliant film. Just saw it... super impressed!

While I agree that it is a well-acted film, I do think that it had one of the worst cliche's in cinema. He got killed on his 'last day on the job,' like in a bad cop movie. If you are going to change your life, don't give up all the street smarts that kept you alive when you go out for your last job. Abandon your old ways AFTER your last job. I actually think the ending would have been better with the main character alive; he could have trained the high school girl's brother and then quit. That way, when the high school girl sees her brother at the end, she has to come to terms that this man who is now good has turned her brother into a monster.

Wow, that's an interesting alternative. I also foresaw the ending in this movie somewhat and that would have been an interesting take on things.

Overall though, still a movie worth catching. I hope Kot-bi Kim has a long career ahead of her because she did a fine job.

reply

I too foresaw the ending about half way through, but I think it was still well-constructed. Your alternative ending is a good idea, but I think it would make the film half an hour longer.

reply

i didn't see it that way.. i think when he heard that the kid's name was also sang-hoon is when he held back the violence.

reply

It's good, if you can stomach the relentless violence - even by Korean standards, this film is violent. I couldn't really stomach it, to be frank, and it was a stressful watch. However, the story, the characters were interesting enough that it felt worthwhile in the end.

Good grief!! Stick to Disney. It's a FICTIONAL movie!!!

I don't love her.. She kicked me in the face!!
