Rome consists of smth like 20 people, in other words crap

---- There are spoilers ---

Rome consists of 20 citizens plus few senators in this ridiculous movie. If you have a low budget, don't make a war or historical movie that requires quite an atmosphere, just shoot Paranormal Activity 5.

I don't even want to mention long and boring Shakespeare dialogues that seem to be directly taken from the play without any editing. The play and a Roman movie in modern times are different things.

Negatives :

1) Extremely unplausible modern Roman environment. You expect to see some modern Roman style buildings in so called Modern times Rome. Roman Army is copy of US Army while Volscian Army is copy of a Russian style Army with AK-47s. I mean you will hardly feel that the movie is set in Modern Rome.

2) Roman population seems to be less than 100. Same few protesters are seen everywhere.

3)Long boring Shakepeare monologues which don't fit into the movie most of the times.

4) Low budget, this means no battle scenes.

5)Bitch aristoractic mom lives in the end.

Positives :

1) King Leonidas is here.

2) That enemy of the poeple Coriolanus got what he deserved on the hands of Volscian friends.

Huh?

Not sure what you're getting at, except that you disliked the film and probably dislike Shakespeare in general.

Okay, you share the feeling with many posters here. Satisfied?

That was my biggest issue (you're heading, not the later stupid ones). It felt lifeless, like it was taking place in a post-apocalyptic world, rather than a time of political forment.

Please do tell what are these "modern Roman style buildings" that you expected, more exactly? I'm really eager to know.

There being the same 20 protesters was absurd. Having the female and the guy with the beard as the main ones was fantastic, but everyone else was the same face too. They could've and should've gotten 100's of extras to run around. It made those parts claustrophobic. The first 45 minutes or so of this was fantastic and the rest dragged on. The last sentence doesn't belong in this thread but that's how I felt.

I am guessing something modern and Roman. Such as the buildings in Rome, which is very much still a city.

And if something harkening back to Roman times, fascist architecture.

the characters and events on this movies are metaphoric not literal, as the flags and names etc.

This movie is excellent. Hicks won't get it. You should just watch something else - something more your caliber.

Yes. Excellent. Feinnes did a hellofa job.

I continue to see Martius as modest in how he responds to all the accolades, downplaying his own accomplishments.

Even Brutus seems to notice it when watching the TV coverage with Sicinius.
