what it means

I liked the movie though it dealt with a depressing topic. In the movie, almost all the main characters were somehow empty, each in their own unique and sad way. Nozomi as an inflatable doll feels the most empty though as she is only filled with air. Despite this, she is actually the one most filled with life, having been gifted early on in the movie with a special quality. While each of the other characters goes about living on their empty lives, to some extent indulging in their unhappiness, Nozomi loves everyone and tries to be nice to all. She brings joy and comfort to them, but it is mostly unreciprocated. Eventually, the world is too difficult for her, she had been blessed with a soul/love/heart, but with it had been brought so much pain that she couldn’t live on, just as the soul/love/heart came to her as she looked out the window and showed her how beautiful life could be, that same soul/love/heart was passed on to the girl with the eating girl, who while being empty was one character that wasn’t abusive or mean to others in the film in some way or another, but instead was tough on herself. The movie ends with the hope that she might be able to bring fruition to the soul in ways that Nozomi couldn’t.
