Is this film full of cliches?

Firstly, I'm not trolling. Just getting it out there; I'm just curious.

I read How to Talk to a Widower by Jonathan Tropper aages ago and I was surprised how that book was full of cliches and extremely unoriginal. Is there anything original in this film or is it also full of cliches and highly predictable?

Cheers

Yes, it is. It does have a few moments of genuinely funny one-lines and some poignancy, but I would say that owes more to the talent of the actors than the writing itself. Otherwise, it's a fairly predictable (save for one shocking revelation at the end) paint-by-numbers family dramadey, without offering much originality to the genre.

There aren't many family comedy/drama that aren't cliched in some way.

I saw this movie in the theater last summer and just watched it again via RedBox. Such an enjoyable movie, lot of great moments, Tim Olyphant's performance (in a small role) was heartbreaking.
