Better movie if they took out some of the contrived quirky crap

I don't know what kind of movie we would have had ... but not this one.

Personally, I could have used less of Rose Byrne, even though I loved her in Neighbors. I think I would have been happier if he hadn't made any promises to her and tried to work things out with his wife. Cool to end up with the Porsche, though!

I agree with all your points. I really just would have been happy if they would have not had his ex have his baby and not had his mom move on so quickly.

1 The scene had to have impact on both Judd and us, besides being played for some laughs.
2 The producers ended up using a great senior actress onscreen, more than I expected and IMO, it worked. I agree she's a quirky character, but also funny and loved and respected by her children. The lesbian aspect was a twist, rather than a sub-plot and took up little time. The fake tits jokes popped up occasionally throughout the film. I liked them, especially the scene with mother and daughter.
3 Maybe a minute of screen time? Again there was the odd verbal reference tossed in through the film to add humour. Generally the kid was seen, but not heard from.
4 Now you're saying you don't want to take out, but want more.
5 Again, this provided a not necessarily unrealistic twist to Judd's storyline. I quite liked it and its final resolution.

Like an earlier poster mentioned, your changes would necessitate a vastly different film. 🐭

They should have had more of Jane Fonda's tits.
