Years ago, before his book was released, and I helped him set up a very crappy website (I was a young teen at the time). He sent me an autographed copy of it (which my mom has packed up in a box somewhere...argh!). I didn't know he killed himself! I only knew him through letters and emails, but still, sad to hear. :(
