Will be a classic 20 years from now!

I think this will be the 2001: A Space Odyssey or Citizen Kane of our time. Pretty 'meh' receival upon release but decades away they became classics.

This film deserves it, people don't understand how brilliant of a job the Wachowskis have done with this!

Don't forget Tom Twyker and everyone else involved.

I agree. I've said it a few times and I still believe it. Even Jupiter Ascending can't spoil the legacy.

Agreed. I believe this movie is before its time. It's beautiful. In 20 years time people will be praising this masterpiece.

reply

Let's see if more masterful cuts of the film are eventually released Blade Runner-style, because I think this film really needs a longer cut.

reply

Yes im a 100 percent with you on this, i even made a list featuring this flick about that subject, check out my profile

Aint gonna happen. This movie is a 7.. If the scale is 0-100

reply

It's a great film, but the Wachowskis and Tom Tykwer were all wrong for it. The book is the real classic.

Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the war room!

reply

I haven't read the book but just based on how the movie felt and looked...I can already tell it didn't do the book all it's justice. Just based on the look.

First of all, the lack of adequate makeup even if it was professional and probably took hours, I think there are simpler methods these days that look better.

Or they could've digitized some of it perhaps like The Social Network, Captain America or Benjamin Button which may have cost more though but might've looked great. Though I have seen Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 2 try to do the digital face thing and they did a sh*t job.

Could also have changed the pitch of the actor's voice for gender change, but I get that they wanted to rely on practical effects or something, but everything else looks blue screened and fake, so why not?

reply

Then you really need to read the book. A lot of the make-up (especially the fake asian makeup) was done that way on purpose. In the book, they called it 'face scaping' and it was a fashion in the Neo Seoul future.

But go ahead and continue telling us how the film didn't do the book justice, without having read it.

reply

It won't be, it's too much of a mess. It's an interesting mess, at times, but it's still a pretty big mess.

reply

Yup! In twenty years' time, it'll still be an incoherent mess that was edited with a Cuisinart, featuring some of the worst performances Tom Hanks has ever given.

However, in twenty years, it's possible that some good director will get ahold of some good actors and good editors, and make the great version of "Cloud Atlas" that it's possible to make.

reply

It's a thought provoking profound masterpiece. Maybe you just didn't get it.
