Why is Jan Di still in high school if she's 19?

Is that what they do in South Korea?

I was wondering the same thing too. I figured they finish high school a lot later than us in the West. I believe the boys were meant to be about 20 years old when they were seniors at Shinwa High.

If I remember correctly when she began going to Shinhwa she was 16. I believe she was a Junior because when she met the F4 they were seniors. Remember Shinhwa had all the schools in one including a University.

I think she ended up graduating late because of all those days she kept missing

I specifically remember Jan Di's dad calling her his "pretty 19 year old daughter" in the scene where they're talking in the playground near their house. I believe the boys were about 20 when they were seniors at Shinhwa High because the model Ji Hoo was in love with (forgot her name) turned 23 when she announced she was moving to Paris for good and if you look at the pictures of them together when they were kids she didn't look that much older than him.

Age is calculated differently in korea. When you are born, you are automatically 1 year old, and you age with the new year.

For example, if you were born 20 Nov 1999, then you are 1 year old on 20 nov 1999, and turn 2 years old on 1 jan 2000 even though you would really only be 2 months old.

Fast forward to high school graduation, and all your 18yr olds are 19 or 20.

I completely forgot about that. I was going by the ages in the manga and I assumed it was the same in the drama.

Far be it for me to judge other cultures but ... that's really weird. I had no idea they did that in Korea. Any idea why it's done? And wouldn't there be a lot more pressure on kids to learn quickly?
