Not to rock anybody's parade,

but is it me or is there something that drives the ratings high for the Disney Channel original flicks?

Take High School Musical 2, worst of the high school musical films; the only reasons that people watched it with an estimate of 17 million viewers was because of the relationship between Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens along with the film being a fan movie in which viewers were given options on what they would like to see in the film from Miley's cameo, Corbin's t-shirts, the peanut butter sandwiches, etc.

Wizards of Waverly Place the Movie was not bad but predictable. I guess the reason for the ll million viewers was because it reached those of "la raza" (the race). Other than the fact that Wizards is trying to be the friendly version of George Lopez without the "Que La Chingada..." I think Disney made a hit with Selena Gomez because her name is a homage to the Tejano singer who was slain. Hope that doesn't happen to dear Selena.

Camp Rock was cool but it would've been better if it weren't a Jonas Brothers vehicle. That's the only reason that the movie was the third watched Disney movie was because of the Jo Bros who went from opening act to opening headline; plus the numerous deals in record albums, Joe's sex appeal, their own TV show, Nick's possibility of dating Selena Gomez and anything that involves the three stooges.

Princess Protection Program was corny, however, it didn't stop me from enjoying the flick. The reason it worked was because of the real life relationship of Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato. Nuff said.

Jump In and Return to Halloweentown had Corbin Bleu and Lucas Grabeel from High School Musical. Cadet Kelly had Hilary Duff, in which her early youth made her popular. Cheetah Girls 2 is really the best of the bunch by blending in Spanish culture mixed with musicals along with friendship put to the test.

That's just my theory.

Lucas Grabeel from High School Musical.

Yes & no. Lucas' debut was in a Halloweentown movie. He wasn't thrown in because the success of HSM. RtoH finished filming before HSM aired.

I know. But it's just that after HSM was a success, it seemed that know the actors were popular. So with the fourth halloweentown movie being one of the top ten watched DCOM flicks, I just had to have my theory on it.
