A note to John Carpenter

Please stop naming your films "John Carpenter's...". If you're that great at directing films, people will know your name without it being part of the film's title. Aside from the annoying narcissism, it makes your films harder to find in a search engine.

How does that make it harder when literally all you have to do is type the dude's name and you get a bunch of search results?

I also don't get the issue. Alfred Hitchcock did it all the time too. Are you going to insist that HE was a bad film-maker himself?

It's not narcissism, plenty of authors do it too. It creates name recognition, it places ownership over the film, if you're not a film-enthusiast of any sort, you may see it as a mark of quality if you find you enjoy movies with the name on it.

This seems like such an insignificant thing to take umbrage with.

What's wrong with being proud of your work? Artists sign their paintings too. John is not conceited or stuck-up. He's a artist that likes to take credit for what he does.

It's a brilliant strategy. Don't be jealous.
