Wow. I wasn't expecting that.

What a gem of a movie. Beautifully photographed as well. I love when a small movie captivates me like this. Kudos to all of the actors- they were so honest and real, and I loved the bittersweetness of the ending. The emotion I felt was earned, not manipulated.

I must admit, I was expecting something very low-budget and amateurish. But, actually, the production values were good, the acting was fine, as far as you can tell in a foreign language and even the soundtrack was rather interesting... While the supernatural element is very typical of Latin American culture, I can imagine it not being to everyone's taste. But, I didn't mind it at all... A very honest depiction of a basically decent guy, who's torn between his wife and his boyfriend in a somewhat less than tolerant community... If I was going to be really picky, I'd say the coyness over full-frontal nudity seemed out of place in this sort of film. But, presumably they had to stick to what is acceptable in Peruvian cinemas... And, the slightly American subtitles jarred a little from time to time... However, on the whole, I liked it very much.

Agree most whole-heartedly. I found the depiction of the fishing-sustained small coastal, Catholic community fascinating.🐭
