I found the whole thing rather perverse in many ways and would not embrace this attempt to illustrate those without morality are human and feel pain and love. Yes, and a murderer about to be executed feels fear. Simply being human does not make anything you do OK. This man could have given his wife a serious disease and betrays trust and sacred vows. Period. I was not happy with the other reviews that focused on content, plot, dialogue and delivery. These were all good in this film. However, the same types of lauding could also be applied to Nazi propaganda films such as Triumph des Willens (Leni Riefenstahl.) It surely was a good movie, enrapturing, but fundamentally its still Nazi propaganda. I really get tired of this constant attempt to portray lack of morality as human and thus by extension all human behavior is OK.

I couldn't agree more zeio. But according with many users here, critizing a movie wich glorifies homosexuality or any other twisted behavior is "trolling".

Jesus what a brainless comment..You truly did not understand the film..it's because of people and attitudes like yours that people have been forced to hide their sexuality & conform to society like Manuel has been in this film.

..and for your comment about 'diseases' well, as another poster said, HIV is not solely confined to gay men, indeed the vast majority of people with HIV ARE STRAIGHT! Are you telling me that if he had messed around with a woman you would have said the same thing about catching diseases? I doubt it. Besides, if you have unprotected sex with a HIV+ person, according to statistics, the chances of transmission is only around 0-10%; if that person is on medication then the risk is about 0-4%. You only need to type this into Google to find out what I am saying is accepted fact...
The really stupid thing is that you are basically suggesting every gay man has HIV which is highly offensive and very inaccurate. There are WORSE things you can catch than HIV not even through sex like chronic genital herpes, multi drug resistant gonhorrea, Hepatitis C (1000x more infectious than HIV), which is quite prevalent amongst the Baby Boomers generation (75% of cases) leading to a liver transplant. Worldwide: 500m with Hep C compared to 34m with HIV..and I can guarantee you that those 34m are a huge majority percentage of 'straight' people.

Perhaps you should EDUCATE yourself before opening your mouth to show how unintelligent you are and put down other groups of people based solely on YOUR OPINION and NOT FACT. They have the same rights to exist & not be abused as do abusive brainless people like you.

In case you are wondering, I work in the HIV field and it's stupid unintelligent comments & thinking from people like you still fuelling stigma that we still are having to work HARD to fight against.

There's truly something perverted going on in our society, but that's not two men loving each other, but society being so hateful that they never dare admit to it and marry and have children instead just to fit in.

Who is anyone to say that is morally right or wrong, becasue the bible states it?..no.thats not a good reason. ( i realize you didnt mention the bible but it is basically where many of "what is morally right" comes from)

See them as humna beings, whihc they are the story is set to illustrate that ALL humans ( notice i said humans not females or males) feel pain, love, saddness, every human emotion capable. It does not matter whether that emotion is for a male or female or if both males and both females feel the ame way for each other. Or at least it sholdnt.

Everyone has their own opinion about this topic and this is a sensitive topic too. Becasue everyone has a different opinion about it. But It is not fair to judge others wthout being in thier position or feeling what they are feeling, i dont think anyone has a right to do that.

You may think it is morally wrong but the truth is that almost everything of what our society has become it wrong.

Excellent comment. The wording "Given his wife a serious disease" really puts it in context. What disease is that - well HIV, and HIV is certainly not confined only to gay men and women. Would the same comment apply is it was the woman who had an affair and infected her lover - or is that just not an issue.

Regardless of the characters in the movies it was about love, accepting oneself, and the hostility of that love by the others. And that story has played out in so many tales.
