What is up with America's obsession with gay people?

What are us Americans so obsessed with gay people. Does everybody want to be gay or something? Come on people. I'm sorry but me and my people are intolerant to gayness!!!

Apart from predicting the kid's life in a very stereotypical manner, at least the film gave the message that it doesn't matter two s**ts if you're gay or not. I'm glad to see this starting to come through in films these days. You need to change your outlook, OP.

Sam Rockwell was a white heterosexual male adult and he was pretty freakin cool in this movie.

I don't think their was any definitive evidence that he was a homosexual...just because one hangs out with a lot of gay dudes does not make one gay. He could have been but I don't think it was really stated one way or another.

reply

Yep

I dont get how they will practically bend a movies plot to the breaking point just to add in PC stuff.

"It's not just gays. Women, homosexuals, hispanics and blacks are cool, while white, heterosexual, male adults are not: Both fathers are schmucks. Welcome to the ethics of the new, politically-correct, brainwashed Hollywood."

Do moral white, heterosexual males exist??? lol!!! Paul Newman came to mind, but you probably think he is/was a commie. ;-)

reply

Welcome to the real world you putz. Not every white male is the perfect superman. Not every black person is satan incarnate.

Oh,thanks for keeping those stupid stereotypes about black people going, as if we don't work hard in school and earn scholarships just like everyone else does. As if white people always work hard and don't ever *beep* like most people on the planet do. White folks who don't understand how affirmative action really works spot this bull**** all the time---do your research. Also, white students have always had their own affirmative action---it's called "legacy preferences"---look it up.

And if you go to any Asian-American blog or site, Asian-Americans have a hell of lot to say about how they're stereotyped in the media, and yeah, they're tired of the same old bull**** stereotypes depicting them being paraded across screen just like black folks and other people of color are, even in this enlightened day and age. See AngryAsianMan,Reappropiate, and Racialcious, for starters.

Yeah, everyone probably does. But, alas, only people who are already attracted to their own gender can join the gay club.

You know the funniest thing about this topic in America is that everybody seems to have a dog in the whole issue; gay or not. More often than not, the people screaming loudest about gay people aren't even gay and doesn't even involve them. These people are the same ones you keep seeing calling other people bigots and homophobes.

In all honesty, its the whole "white man's guilt" manifested in a different form - white people in America have an obsession with self hatred and feeling guilty for everything and anything they can possibly take it for. For some, the whole gay issues thing is pretty appealing and is a way for them to escape all the times they called something "gay"; which is a very commonly used word here.

To put it simply, all these haters who keep forcing gay issues on people, who don't agree with it nor like it, and calling them bigots and homophobes are often the true homophobes and bigots themselves.

Americans need something to feel bad about, that is why this is so big right now.

The "gay" issue seemed a little out of place in the movie. I don't think it had to do with the kid being gay, I think it was just how poorly handled all the "sentimental" scenes were.

I'm with bobdebicker. The lame attempts to give this movie heart are what dropped it from a D- to an F for me.

reply

Whether or not I agreed with them, the sentimental speeches Jonah Hill's character was giving everyone in the film made me cringe. Sometimes I think writers include these scenes purposely for female audience members to have something to get weepy over while the guys can sit back and enjoy stupid comedy. That way everyone goes home happy.

What's up with people from other countries obsession talking about America and trying to put it down every chance they get? Insecure much?
