Hugely extended by popular request, there are two final dates for cinema live transmission of JLM and Benedict Cumberbatch in Frankenstein.

It is very, VERY, VERY good but very, VERY, VERY dark. And these last two cinema dates in which JLM and BC reverse their roles of Frankenstein and The Creature, are being broadcast all over the world.

You'd be mad to miss it if it's on near you. People will be talking about it for years . . .

Wow. I wish I could see this, but sadly it's not available to me.

EDIT:
I was finally able to see this production via National Theatre Live at a local multiplex a few years ago. We weren't able to attend both evenings, so we saw only the version with JLM as the Creature. Loved it!

It sounds amazing!

Nothing closer than a 3-hour drive each way.

And Sarasota calls itself the Culture Coast. Ha!

Hey, PBS Masterpiece had this link on it's twitter page. It looks really interesting and intense. I am fortunate enough to be only 20 minutes away from a theater showing it. That never happens.

I'm lucky enough to have a cinema in my city showing it, so I've got my ticket - going to see JLM as the Creature and Cumberbatch as Frankenstein. Am quite jealous of those who live in London and can actually go see the play being done on stage, but thankful that at least there's a venue near me.

Same here Chocolate!

I went balistic at first when I thought it wasn't being shown near me! Then I got an email from the National Theatre and found a small indie cinema were showing it. I went for the same "intuitive" casting, which from all accounts is the best one.

To be honest, I'm not sure Frankenstein is my thing at all, but I just couldn't miss it. Decided that I couldn't afford the trip to London, but the cinema is WAY cheaper. Roll on next Thursday. I shall be sitting on my own too, unless we get a babysitter and can get a second ticket.

Incidentally, I just watched Byron over the last couple of days. Not only is JLM reuniting with Danny Boyle in Frankenstein, Nick Dear who wrote the screenplay for Byron did the script for Frankenstein! Apparently it's been re-drafted quite a bit from the previews, although still hasn't been rated as highly as the acting, lighting, choreography and design.

Also, JLM was presenting at the Olivier's on Sunday. Missed it on TV, although by all accounts the coverage was shoddy.

Don't worry, chocolate, almost no one in London got to see it in the theatre either. Unless you are an NT member or received their mailings then you wouldn't have heard about it till it sold out. They extended the season and those tickets sold out in a couple of hours. Cheapest scalper is charging £200 each for their cheapest remaining tickets and prices go up to £3,000.

Need to stop Internet scalping. There's a new law been mooted banning the sale of tickets at more than 20% of face value. Here's hoping.

True enough, I suppose, but if I lived in London, I could have seen it on stage, because the excellent ladies at C19 (in Jonny's sub-board in the Celebrity Corner which was created for him by popular demand after Emma) were extremely up-to-date with his career news.

Or maybe not, actually - I heard that NT members get to start booking tickets before it's open to the general public, so it might well have been sold out by then anyway.

Oh well - I'm seeing a version of it anyway, and I'm sure it will still be an amazing experience, even if it's not a live stage version.

We'll be watching the same performance . . . .

Just went to see it (Jonny as Creature, Benedict as Frankenstein) - loved it! Both were brilliant, and it was two hours very well-spent.

Tell him I said he's got to. Tell him I'll come round otherwise.

Now JLM will play the ne'er do well brother Roger Collins in Dark Shadows. A relative to P&P's Mr. Collins? Hmm?
