who saw Jolies TR in 2001?

I did. It was kind of a big deal. Remember the lead up to it the pics of Jolie in the press and then the poster of her was everywhere (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0146316/mediaviewer/rm2764178944). and being intrigued that the Con Air director was doing it so should be pretty good. Then it came out and the reviews of the film underwhelming no where near as good as Indys but she was praised as being good in the role (its the same again now). Watching it can remember thinking it wasn't working and the mcguffin wasn't good enough. also the love interest had a fake American accent and thinking how the villain would make a great Bond when Pierce finished lol

Didn't bother with the sequel just two years later as the first had left me unimpressed and there was loads of other movies to see that summer (Hulk, X2, Matrix 2, T3) remember the 'buzz' was that it was the guy who'd made Speed was directing (but then hed also directed Speed 2..) and the reviews were pretty bad worse than TR1 and it made a lot less $. when did eventually see it on DVD remember thinking it was a slight improvement

So do i.I have nothing against jolie, but the script was and still is shit

It gave little boys strong willie boners watching her in that tight skin suit.

I saw both of her's and it was too long ago to remember but you really can't go wrong putting a tank top on Jolie and having her kick a55 in exotic locales. Will probably rewatch.

I was sort of OK with the first one.. yah the story was lousy though I agree. Have not seen this one yet and am debating

reply

to be honest, that was soft porn, not a tombraider movie.

reply

Definitly not a tomb raider movie

reply

Definitely NOT soft porn either- that might have made it watchable.

I saw it the following summer on DVD, borrowing it from a friend of mine. I remember being quite underwhelmed by it

I saw both TR movies in a movie theater, and I liked them. I thought Angelina did an acceptional job. Even Roger Ebert liked the first film, he put up his big fat thumb up. Siskel wasn’t a fan. I think it was a pretty big deal at that time. Now I enjoy those movies even more for its aged sentimental value. In retrospect Angelina was a babe. Hell, I even think she had a better and bigger English ( . Y . ) accent than Vikander in a new film.
