Do they speak funny spanish

In this movie? It sounds weird....

Yup, as there are different kinds of english accents, there are many different spanish accents. I think chilean spanish is one of the most difficult accents to understand because people talk fast, use a lot of slang and change words, for example: "tú estás sentado" (you're sitting) becomes "tú estai sentado", or "tienes que saber antes para hacerlo" (you have to know before doing it) becomes "tení que cachar antes pa' saber" and so on...

What Sgt_Pepper1102 said. But it's not so much a difficult accent as much as bad vocabulary.

Well, as somebody mentioned above, Chilean verb endings are slighlty different from other forms of voseo.

As far as bad vocabulary goes, well, slang is a common phenomenon in any language, as it is, too, in Spanish.

Other than that, I find that a speaker from Newcastle, England and another one from, let's say, Ontario, speak completely different. English has different verb structures according to the geolect.

It is not a case of bad Spanish, as the Spanish speaking world is a huge one (from North America to the South, to Spain -where we have two varieties, too, as well as different languages). None of them is good or better than the other one.
