No money?

Why does Ted Haggard claim he has no money? Don't tell me those television appearances, profits from this film, etc. don't pay for his cost of living. Not only that but aren't evangelists known for making their money within the Church? He said it himself that the Church is a business. So, wasn't he make a profit out of all those people who were in his congregation?

That really didn't make much sense and hasn't been asked in either documentary last night or the television interviews that he's done recently.

This is true but with a $700,000 house, salary $100,000+ a year, plus an additional severance pay, I find it hard to believe that he is completely out of money and in debt.

What about his children? Two are old enough to be able to help their parents if necessary and what about his wife? Why doesn't she get a job to help aid the family if they're in so much trouble?

I didn't see this documentary, but did see them on Oprah where they showed a few clips of the film. That thought went through my mind the entire time as well. While Ted was applying for jobs and putting flyers on doors...I kept wondering, "What does his wife do?" It only reinforces my belief that she married him knowing full well he is gay, but wanted to do nothing for herself but stay at home and have babies (Did you notice how she balked when Oprah suggested Ted be true to himself and live as a gay man, thus leaving her?) It's quite possible other men she met before Ted would have none of it so they dumped her. It isn't like some women don't do such things, like the recent Drew Peterson incident (even though she has recently left him), and then that sideshow freak, John Mark Karr (of the Jon Benet Ramsey case) also had, or has, a girlfriend. I think these women have them pegged as their cash cow since they were in the spotlight for a while and all they are seeing is the $$$ potential.

He's a preacher. Preachers make a living by suckering other people. The suckering continues even after the church fired him. Surely he could get a job cleaning bathrooms.

He mentioned in the film that he is trying to hold on to what they've got left - their house in CO. I imagine - so that his wife can have something when he passes away.

He did get severance pay and I've read that he had just received a bonus and still receives some book royalties but it would be my guess that, just like anyone, he had some level of debt at the time this scandal broke, maybe a mortgage payment, etc. That seems to be the case no matter how much money you make.

Whadda ya hear, whadda ya say!
