So Refreshing

It was great to see a movie about the queer community that told a new story. I can't think of a movie about said group that tackles domestic abuse. And even more than that, kudos to the director for making a movie whose plot unfolds out of sequence, as if following some psychological trajectory rather than that of time. It makes me think of, like, Cassavetes + recent Malick. It was so much more interesting for its puzzle-plot sequencing. I think it would have been just as clear without the calendar dates delineating each new section. I'm just so impressed that finally there is a queer filmmaker interested in making--not to sound pretentious, but--auteur work and not just rehashing the same several "gay stories." Well done! And well acted, too.
