That review is based on a script that is months old.

This is Tyler Labine. While I appreciate the ambition, reviewing pilots before you've seen them is just a little unfair. Also, whatever script you read was nowhere near the production script we shot. It was constantly being tweaked and "fixed" up to the date of production and then some. I don't feel you had an accurate impression of the show we shot. Just wait and see what we did and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. Also, the fact that I'm not ready or old enough to be these kids dad IS the joke. It comes up many times in the pilot. I hope you actually see the show before you write your next disparaging review. Thanks.

TY.

First off, I don't mean to offend anybody on my reviews (sorry if I did) and this is why I'm not reviewing shows without potential.
And yes, what I read was a rather old draft I guess, but from my experience, once a network starts to rewrite a script it doesn't get any better, it gets worse.
As I said on the review, Sons of Tucson has a great concept but the storylines didn't strike me as compelling enough.
Finally, I also hope I'll get to see the show and if I don't, well, you can always send me the script you've shot, I'll be happy to read it again !

All the best.

Wow....

This is fun!

Sorry, couldn't help but chime in on what I'm surprised has not been a more noticed/commented on bout...

Nice to see the 'Bine chime in on the issue, tho... I mean, reviewing a preliminary script and using it as the basis to shoot down a pilot that hadn't even been casted or shot yet..? C'mon....

Art evolves.. Just like life... Which is why we're not giant amoebae typing on the interwebs.

Hey Chuck. Like I said I appreciate the ambition. I just wanted to know how much experience you have with reading scripts and then shooting them? I agree that most do get a lil' flimsy after some rewrites and network notes but I assure this one only got better. What people will think if this show goes to air is one thing but I really do think that you writing a review before you've seen frame one could be detrimental to some emerging shows. It's just my humble opinion that what you do is arbitrary at best. It's pointless and potentially harmful to pilots. Give us a chance before you go down this road. You obviously have a way with words and a nice demeanor. I think it would better suit you to be a TV critic and not grasp onto this gimmick of yours just to get people to read an early "scoop". TY.

I have several years of experience with scripts (reading and re-working them), unfortunately not enough with shooting, but I don't know if it really is the point.
If you've read my reviews, you've seen that I rarely give bad reviews because I actually do now how harmful it can be to a project in development, and because I don't enjoy being petty. It means each script I reviewed on the blog interested me in some ways and had some (sometimes uncovered) potential.
As for Sons of Tucson, it seems to be on FOX's top list, and is already rumored to be a lock, so I will get to see what it looks like (and I'm glad I will).

Again, all the best.

Tyler Labine.I'll hope that season 3 of reaper gets syndicated, I like the show and I'll hope if they do they have a good thought of what great things they can achieve for the next season. Then I'll hope I'm goining to see you in. But Sons of Tucson does look promising. What will happen if they decide to make a season 3 of reaper while your filming for Sons of Tucson? :s Ofc they can add some new caracters in the show, it could work but I'd rather see Sock back, cause he's lovable caracter. Cya Keep at the good work

Had the pleasure of seeing the pilot as part of a focus group at a survey place in Schaumburg IL...I was so p.o.'d that it wasn't picked up for series; apparently, saner heads are now in charge, as SOT is now scheduled for a tryout.

Needless to say, I've got it marked on the calendar so I can DVR it...hopefully, subsequent episodes will be as entertaining.

This show is going to be awesome...it's one of the most BUZZed about shows right now.

reply

Yes I hear that it's good enough to win a TONY if it were a theatrical piece....

WTF does that even mean? I don't normally post on things I have not seen, but that is the dumbest fing post I have read in a long time. I hope this is a funny show because fox needs a comedy that is not animated.

I hope that post doesn't have anything to do with Frank.........
