Anyone read the book?

I read the book before seeing this and I kinda couldnt take it seriously knowing how cleaned up the movie was from the book. In the book Sally's plays a significantly bigger role in the plot and Henry walks in on Louis with a transexual prostitute as opposed to being dressed up as a chick, not to mention smaller alterations to make it flow better as a film.

Anyone else feel similarly about it?

i read the book. couldn't put it down. henry and louis were such fully realized characters. and the dialogue! sparkling, witty as hell. i figured the movie version would clean up the transgressive sex. it went way too far. there was no mention of louis' wonderful relationship w/his aunt. disliked the movie intensely. it just scratched the surface.

I didn't read the book, but after seeing the film I came to imdb to find out what the heck it was about. I did enjoy it, but it's not terribly clear. Sounds like the book was better than the film...per usual.

the book is a delight. the movie is only a very pale approximation of it.
