One of a few Grandmasters of Akido in the wourld

No matter how fat he gets he's still like 6'4 and able to impose his will on most any of the cut swole up dudes u can think of...Grandmaster of one of the hardest and most ancient matial arts aint no joke.....ohh and hes a white American dude!

i've never seen any proof to demonstrate that he is actually "a dangerous man", just a bunch of talk about him having so and so rank or belt which means nothing to me. You can walk in and buy a belt at a lot of traditional martial arts gyms, especially if you're an intimidating white guy with an up and coming action movie career.

I have seen his hilarious demonstration of Aikido on Youtube where the whole thing was obviously a work, and of course there's the classic story of Judo Gene LeBelle choking him unconscious on set once, but neither of those lends much credence to his name or ability.

This can be said of most so called "Martial Art Experts" but we have no reason to doubt Steve Segal's claim. If he can't act, can't fight or can't make a film in your view then why has he made such a nice living. By the way in case you didn't know, when you start getting past middle age in your life you start to expand in many places. I think Steven Segal has given us all a GOOD cinema experience and sure he made some duds but he has also given us some good experiences as well which just goes to show he is as human as you and I.

reply

"Good Cinema Experience" yes.. thats the word..
he may be a grand master in aikido.. but still in movies anything possible..
stunt doubles, digital touching etc..
I still want to see steven seagal fights with a true martial artist and see how it goes.. like perhaps jet li or others..

reply

Lol, Segal vs Jet Li

All Jet Li would have to do is run behind the fat bastard before he (Segal) could turn around and then just start whaling on him, he'd fall like a mighty oak.

reply

What a load of horse droppings ..
personally ive no idea who would win in a fight between them my money if i was betting would be Li but would you fight him...no because he would crush the life out of you in a heartbeat yet of course with the anonymity of the internet you think your safe, well maybe you are but it still makes you a little person whos opinion we have no need to listen to

reply

Right ! Steven Seagal RULES !!!

reply

How can we be sure he can fight at all? All you see are micro-second flashes of action stitched together, never a continuous take. Which suggests that it's all a con trick!

$100 Dolph Lundgren (who is only 5 years younger) will beat the *beep* out of Steven "Fat Arse" Seagal. Dolph served in the REAL Swedish Marine Corps at the Amphibious Ranger School, and won the European Karate championships in 1980 and 1981. Oh and he is the smartest guy in Hollywood - with master's degree in chemical engineering and was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to MIT in 1983. So no chance for a lard arse Steven to even outsmart him.

reply

It's true. Seagal is insanely talented. My sensei rolled with him in the late 90s before his weight gain. And I hear all these guys discrediting Seagal's ability to whoop ass because he's put on weight...you ever been on the mat with a guy who KNOWS what he's doing AND has 50-100lbs on you? Those are the worst opponents you want to grapple.

I see a lot of the keyboard jockies running their mouth have this idea that "martial arts" are all the same and that opponents just go fist to fist. Not in Aikido, you learn to break fists, wrists, and elbows.

I have no doubt Seagal is what he claims to be. I've seen his demonstrations and you don't put those kind of skills and speed on display NOT knowing what you're doing. He's the real deal. I'd never, ever want to be on the mat with him unless it were in a position to learn.
