High Noon Sooooo Much Better Than Midnight Bayou

Last week I trashed Midnight Bayou on this board, and was not surprised to read that many agreed that it was pretty awful.

OTOH, High Noon was, for me, a completely different experience. We had a great time watching it. Luckily, we have a DVR and can skip through commercials in a couple of seconds; that kept the tension high. This was as real as MidBayou was phoney.

The screenplay (whether it was close to the novel or not) certainly was well-written and kept us wondering who the bad guy was for quite a while. So glad it wasn't that dishy Ivan Sergei!

Was it bad microphone placement, or are some of these actors not good at projecting their words? Had to go back and increase the sound, sometimes more than once, to catch dropped words.

I thought this was the one of the bast adaptations of her books. This was the least favorite novel I've read of Nora, but the best movie.

Of the three thus far it was the best. It seems they're going from worst to..not the worst LOL. It gives me hope that Tribute won't be the suckfest I was anticipating.

I was really disappointed with the way they handed Duncan's family and the way they completely left out Phoebe's. Had I not read the book, I might have wondered why she was so worried about her police captain as there was no reason other than Meeks saying she was sleeping with him. One throw away line about how he was there when her mom's boyfriend took them hostage when they were kid's and she doesn't even say much about that. Things that were important were left out and could have been added quite easily, IMO.

I've never read a Nora Roberts book, but I watch Lifetime. High Noon was hands down better than Northern Lights or Midnight Bayou. I'm expecting Tribute to be better too, although I find the decision to pair Brittany Murphy and Jason Lewis extremely puzzling. I liked the two leads in this movie the best, plus the High Noon concept. I think I can safely say HN will be the only one I will watch again.

This one was easily the best of the four. I'd rate them High Noon, then Midnight Bayou, then Tribute, then Northern Lights which was just terrible. This was the only one that made me consider possibly reading the book.

You'll really like the book. I think of the four, this one has a book/movie pairing the go well together. You sort of pick up what's missing from the movie and it explains a few things that were sort of, lacking, I guess, in the movie. And, did you know, Pheobe has a family! LOL

Ha...if you thought Northern Lights was bad..I just snagged Sanctuary, which was the first Nora Roberts done to movie and OMG...talk about not keeping to the book LMAO..they even changed the killer LOL

Agreed! It was soooo good! From beginning to end I was watching ever minute. I didn't ff once, lol!

I loved it as well and didn not FF it either. I watched it once I learned that Emilie de Ravin was in it. She was great.

I read the book just recently than watched the movie and I thought it was awful compared to the book. They change so many details and leave out things that were important. Obviously, it is a 400 page book and only an hour and a half movie but still.
