What is up with using a guy who doesn't look 16?

I know the whole true story this movie is based on and have even seen the Imposter but why couldn't they use an actor who at least looked his age or younger? The guy must've been 25 when this was filmed but he does not look his age, he looks 30 and he's playing a 16 year old. There are so many actors that look their age or younger, why not get them instead? This actor looks 5 years older than his real age so it's less convincing and I just can't take it seriously.

I completely disagree with the idea that he looks older than he is. The FBI knew from the start he was lying about his age so it was obvious he wasn't 16 - but that was part of the bizarre nature of the family's acceptance of him. Different eye colour, different accent, obviously older - but they still chose to be wilfully blind. The man was 25 at the time. I'd say the actor looks 25 and with an 'innocent' expression and removal of body hair looks younger. Not 16, but he's not meant to.

If you watch the documentary with the real life imposter, he actually looked older. He also died his hair an ugly and obviously cake color.

I know. When I saw that hair, obviously cake.
