Excellent acting by Ellen Barkin

I'm not a huge fan of hers but I would have never guessed this was her. I thought there was something vaguely familiar about the mother but was surprised to find out it was Ellen. Whoever doesn't think she did a superb job knows nothing about acting. She deserves an Oscar in my opinion. Too bad no one saw it.

I agree. I happen to be a fan of Ellen Barkin and I was thinking to myself how that is a sign of a good actor. Always thought of her as sexy looking and beautiful in a unique sort of way. For her to transform herself into a broken down, alcoholic junkie like that, I think, is a pretty awesome performance.

Agreed. I'm not a big fan of Barkin's acting, though I really like her looks. But here, she was absolutely terrific, drab in a truly creepy way. Reminded me of addicts I've known. A stand-out performance.

I think she did a remarkable job in this. In everything I've seen her do she's played a sexy, kind of tough, wise-cracking & assertive/confident woman.

This was a real departure for her and she did well with this very different character.

In all the films I've ever seen with Ms Barkin she has been very good as she was here. The make-up and prosthetics were excellent as was her embodiment of the mother.

She was impressively repulsive in this. Sounds like an insult, but meant as a compliment.

Ellen Barkin should get an award for this. She demonstrates what acting is all about!
