Bunch of Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt, with trace amounts of science

I could not believe how this movie was supposed to influence audiences.

Most of sentences start with "many believe that", and we see a fixed number of scientists bordering on the paranormal and the mentally challenging, feeding us "convictions". Their interpretations of the lost book of Nostradamus take a lot of imagination bending to get their understanding. Some of the examples of tales of the legendary clairvoyant are even not fitting with examples to illustrate them.

Too much fear, too little science, and the science that appeared in the movie came from questionable characters.

There was just one guy in the movie, Nostradamus, who did not need a sedation. Amount of science was barealy traceable.

I must have missed the science. Total and absolute pap. When this obviously doesn't come to pass, what will be the next end of the world date?

reply

next world end date: 2014 or so...

And they'll apply Nostradamus' quatrains to that, as well.

I liked how specific the narration was about the sources it kept referencing:

"Some say... ", "Some speculate... ", "Some scientists think... ", "Some people believe... ", "Some others argue... " ...

Insulting.
