Wayne Carini seems like a d*ck on the show

Even in the shows intro when he says, "I chase cars!!!!" He has a look like he is pissed off for no good reason. If he loves what he does, he should generally be a happy go lucky individual. Even when he is riding in a Jag XKE with his daughter, he seems to have the subtlety of a brick wall. He says my daughter loves a drive with the top down and you see her and she looks terrified like a statue. I wonder if this guy is as abusive in real life as he comes across on tv.

Wayne may be a d*ck for good reason, but what he does in the show intro is also part of making good TV to get the audience engaged and follow the episodes. I thought same as you, but if you watch CCC regularly -- I just watched most of the Christmas marathon -- Wayne admits that he's a control freak. He's explained in several episodes that a car's provenance, the way it's been handled or restored, and the market, can affect it's value or sale at auction. So, one wrong detail can take tens of thousands off a car's price, for instance, or an auction could go wrong -- and there've been a few of those in the show where Wayne lost his shirt on a car. He's also an expert that people count on to give them the straight-up details on why they should purchase a particular car, instead of just stroking them. During the marathon, one thing several people said about Wayne was that he's a straight shooter and honest. There were several episodes where Wayne was totally compassionate towards people and their car situations, like the sisters near Seattle who wanted to sell their dad's Deusenberg, or the wife of his late friend who sold his Morgan to Wayne just to keep it nearby. I understand from the show that Wayne has one daughter in college and his other daughter is autistic, which may explain what you saw. I have a friend whose son has Asberger's, which is related to autism, and it's a handful to live with, so Wayne has got to have an iron will some days just to make it through. There was the one episode where he bought a Bimbo Racer that his dad restored so it could be sold for charity to benefit autism. So, yeah, Wayne is a d*ck, because he has to be. But he also has a heart of gold. This definitely makes the show worth watching, in my opinion.

I ewatched the Christmas marathon too. Didn't know about his daughter with Asberger that is sad. I did see a different side to him on the show but I guess they do tend to have a gruff exterior for show promos for some reason. I saw a few auctions where he lost a bit of cash. I had to question why on those particular high risk auctions he had no reserve on them as it seems he would have known better being an expert in collectable and rare cars and their values.

This guy is a real a-hole and you're gonna justify it? Give me a break. His life is no different than anyone else, and I've seem people with worse lives that act better than this prick. I've watch many of his episodes and there's no reason to act the way he does. I watch it for the cars but he's hard to stomach.
