shareBrilliant! Thanks so much for that.
shareA wonderful film in two movements. Some of the energy is lost in the second part, and the "troubled son" thread seemed unnecessary or at least undeveloped, but still a very powerful, thoughtful film. The children are unusually good, adding to the heartache when tragedy visits. I had read good things about this fine film and was not disappointed. Highly recommended.
A minor fault, imo, is the use of the Doris Day song at the close. We already had a bit of cheese with Lee Hazelwood (a guilty pleasure, I'll admit), but I think a Brel tune, or better yet the great Piaf would have been more appropriate for the close. Let the little sparrow fly!
