So, I can understand perfectly why they'd have him speak in actual English for that part, but he's butchering the tongue quite a bit, apparently not knowing the language that well (if at all). I wonder why they didn't just get someone with a similar voice who could speak English?

Indeed, which is weird given I know there's a huge load of American fans of Hetalia. I thought more would be users on the imdb rather than just livejournal and deviantart...

Well, even if you search for Hetalia it brings up the correct page in the search outcome. It is very annoying though that the people who do these sites will use the Engrish translation as opposed to what's obvious (hell, when you have even Italy saying it as "Hetalia" that should be a pretty big clue as to the correct spelling).

I've been watching this on Netflix (the dub) and I can't figure out who the guy is that's offering to help America with the cleaning. Is it just some background guy? He sounds vaguely Hispanic, which would kind of make sense since so many people in the American service industry (maids, servants, etc.) are Mexican/Hispanic, but...*was* it Mexico? That didn't really fit with the story of "helping America." I would have guessed Canada, but he appeared later in one of the Allied meetings and it didn't look like the same guy. Hubby said historically, it would have been France, which is true, but it was obviously not France the character.
We're only up to episode 21 so please don't spoiler anything else for me. Thanks.
It was Lithuania. In Hetalia continuity, he went and stayed with America for a while (I think it was mentioned that this was representing the large population of Lithuanian immigrants at a point in American history. But don't quote me on that. I haven't yet gotten to looking up what was supposed to be represented there in history books.)
A Mexico character has not actually been created yet. (Much to my sadness. I would love to see the dynamics between Mexico and America.)
