Is this film worth watching?

So I'm not really familiar with what happened from '08 - 2010, all I know is that supposedly Joaquin was retiring from acting and was going to become a rapper and he went crazy, doing interviews and acting wild... Then it was revealed that it was all for this mockumentary.

My question is, even if you aren't familiar with what happened with Joaquin and all the craziness that happened, does the movie still hold up? I have seen a lot of mixed opinions, and metacritic holds it at a 48.. Why?

Also I heard of letterman that he didn't work for 2 years (from 2010 to 2012) because of what he did, no one would hire him... Is that true, or was it his personal decision?

Thanks for the answers.

He didnt work for his own reasons...hes one of the best actors in the world and any director would love to have him in their film.

The fact that they pulled this of as a hoax and so many people and media believed it and some still seem to believe it makes it at least interesting to watch. There might be better ways to spend almost 2 hours though.

I'm glad I watched it but I MAD I watched it. Total waste of my time. I hated it and now I hate Joaquin.

Other than that, Life is a bowl of Palmolive, and I'm soaking in it.
