Just watched the Russian version of 'Baggage'

And it's not bad! My expectations were rock bottom after seeing this movie, with tr clips of the Russian Married with Children. And I Dream of Jeannie with the fishing line floating ice cubes. But all around I think it's a great production. Definitely more natural.

In the end, Phil, you win!

By the way, if you are reading the boards. Great job. Hope it was worth it for you financially and otherwise. I have no clue how you put up with all of that. I was talking to a friend of mine the other day abOut how sometimes, despite best intentions, cultures clash and that's it. In fact, we aren't actually all the same the world over--we're different.

I watched it too, I actually really liked it. I thought the guy they picked to play Raymond was really funny, he had good timing and funny facial expressions. The wife was really good too. The production values were kind of Saved By The Bellish, but to me, that was part of the charm. I actually wouldn't mind seeing more episodes.

On the commentary, he said that it's actually on 5 days a week, they sort of base their system on the soap opera model. So they'll burn through all the current scripts pretty quickly, and have to come up with their own.

What do you mean by the Russian version of 'Baggage'? Are you talking about the Russian version of the Everybody Loves Raymond or something else? I can only find 'Baggage' as a Jerry Springer game show.

reply

"Baggage" was the name of one of the Everybody Loves Raymond episodes. On the DVD extras, they have the original version and the Russian version.

reply

it would be hard to be worse than the original.

We're not soldiers and he's not the enemy. He's a pizza man.

Does anyone know which Season/Episode # this would be for Voroniny or what the name of the episode is in Russian? (I don't have the DVD for Exported Raymond so I'd have to find the episode online).
