I just saw it. I know I'm late in the game, but I have to get this off my chest. I loved everything so no need to go into detail.

Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence were simply AMAZING! Thank you so very much for those two breathtaking heart felt hours you gave me. And of course, thanks to all who made that movie happen.

Thank you for that ending. I needed that! However, it could have been even better if you added some grand kids at the end running around that tree. They did have 88 years alone, so procreation seemed like a pretty cool idea if you wanted follow normalcy for married couples, right?

I agree with you for the most part. Really enjoyed this thing and thought it was a delightfully romantic 2 hours, combined with some breathtaking sic-fi. Pratt and Lawrence did great work here too.

I surprisingly did enjoy this as well...however, after doing a little research, I found the original screenplay from 2007 and boy is that third act completely different.

Yes, and pretty easy to find...just google 'passengers screenplay' and make sure it's dated 2007. Can be found in PDF format pretty quickly. I think you might find what happens in the third act a little unsettling thus why the studio probably pushed Spaiht for a rewrite (maybe they didn't; Spaiht himself in an interview never alludes to this but does partially note why he rewrote it).

Gus's death is treated differently, as well as one whole subplot being removed and replaced. It's pretty jarring. But I think it still would have made a good movie, but it might have pushed it into R rated territory.

Plus in the original screenplay Aurora's name is Aurora Dunn, not Aurora Lane. Not sure why that was changed unless Dunn couldn't be 'cleared'.

I usually hate replying to myself but in this case I will (instead of editing) since it brings another point. I found the modified screenplay that was dated June 2015 (and labeled the White Shooting Draft) which indicates this was the draft they were using for the initial shoot. Revisions were made by Mark L Smith (who also penned The Revenant). There were still some things different but it was more consistent with the final edit. UPon reading the initial edit I feel a little like it was a cop out, especially how the final act played out.

I think people don't like this movie because of the moral dilemma it portrays and they think since it's a movie portraying it, they're giving it validity. That is so much further from the truth than I see. You see Jim's conflict over what he's done, not just after it's revealed to Aurora that he's done it, but well before that.

And Thomas Newman and that fantastic score. Man, this guy gets screwed over so many times by the Academy. Fourteen time nominee and he STILL hasn't won. This score reminds me a little of a futuristic version of American Beauty in places. I'm not saying he should have won for this, I think he should have won for American Beauty. How did he lose to Red Violin on that? Mind boggling.

I hate to disagree, glad u enjoyed it, but I'd only give it a C. No chemistry with the actors, little happening, dialogue was not good and over all very low energy. I love the two stars, but this movie was way lacking.

While I can understand having a problem with the story, there was absolutely no lack of chemistry between the leads. Even most of the harshest critics of the film conceded that. And I do like both of the actors' bodies of work separately. I was glad to see them do a film together.

Ok, I guess I had higher expectations, but I still am glad I watched it. It was hard to forgive Chris's character for bringing Jennifer's character out of hibernation, thus having her stuck on the ship till she died. Seems a big character flaw ! lol

That's what the story was going for. Makes you examine what you as the viewer might have done in that situation.

Never too late..i enjoyed it too..(I actually saw it in Dec.2016 in its orig.theatrical rel.). Jennifer should have won an Oscar (though La La land was released the same time, and I'm glad Emma Stone won...and, well, Jennifer and Emma were both lead actresses, a seperate genre lead actress award could have been given..)
