So far my favorite Anime series from the new Millenium

While the original Mobile Suit Gundam isn’t budging my all-time favorite spot, FMAB comes the closest out of any series I have seen. I watched the 2003 FMA series and I thought it was watchable and has good ideas but the writing of plot and characters varied in quality. I certainly don’t think it’s up there with Cowboy Bebop or Ghost in the Shell: SAC as must-see animes because it’s not that fantastic.

Afterwards I decided to give FMAB a try (thank Funimation for posting both full series on YouTube). At first it was good but as I kept watching the series turned downright addictive for me. If people say FMAB is one of their favorites I would not hesitate to say “you can count me in”. It has a labyrinth of a plot, every character has a cohesive arc, characters I didn’t like from 2003 series I could not get enough in this series, and the animation is superb.

The series for the most part adapts the entire Manga and it pays off brilliantly. It’s also right up there with Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter as bona fide fantasy adventures. You can get 5 individual volumes of this series right now OR wait for the 2 Box sets that each has half of the series. Buy the DVDs/Blu-Rays it’s worth it!
