bar is raised high...

I'm new to the anime world and the first two shows I saw were Death Note and FMAB... I kinda feel I've already seen the best...

I am desperately looking for something to make me feel the way these two made me feel and so far nothing has come even close...

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Cowboy Bebop, Gurren Lagann, Space Dandy, Attack on Titan, Baccano!, and Tokyo Ghoul.

Akame Ga Kill Is the only one I've watched that's close. VERY short and sweet. Also if you are a female you would love Gundam Seed. Other than that....almost nothing comes close.

Also Full metal Alchemist the first series is best to watch too! Completely different story but great. FMAB wrapped up better though but still.

Cowboy bebop is as good as this in my opinion you have not seen the best until that has been watched, I'd love more of it and of fma of corse

I know what you mean those two are always at the very top for me. These shows are good as well, but FMAB always wins for me personally. Here's what I got:

Fate/Zero: This action fantasy/tragedy series is about seven mages battle for possession of the Holy Grail. An artifact that can grant a miracle. It sounds simple but the whole set up of the story isintriguing and mature. The show doesn't mess around and isn't some goofy action series that forgets it has a serious plot.

Ergo Proxy: This science-fiction/philosophical series might not be for everyone since the story is complex and sometimes confusing (along with only occasional moments of action) to the point that a second viewing would be required to really understand it. But it is definitely one of the best. The setting is in a futuristic city where humans and androids coexist. The story begins to unfold when a series of murders are committed by robots (known as AutoReivs), these robots have been infected by a virus known as the Cogito virus which makes them self-aware.

Kino's Journey: The story is super simple: A girl travels from place to place and observes the people. It's sounds boring but it's actually really interesting and delves into lots of ethical issues. Definitely a good watch.

I know I will be hated for saying this. But please don't bother with Code Geass. Some will recommend you it because you said you liked Death Note. I tried it for the same reasons and was very disappointed. The premise is somewhat similar to DN, except the series is filled with almost every anime cliche, not to mention about a million "deus ex machinas" that make no sense. It isn't even close to Death Note's level of quality. It really isn't worth your time.

I'm new to anime too and just watched Death Note. I'm thinking of starting FMAB too. Is it as good as Death Note? One I would recommend checking out is Madoka Magica. It was the first anime I ever saw and was excellent. It starts as like this is going to be a cute magical girl anime and then gets dark quick. Another good one is Psycho-Pass.

Death Note is next to see on my list, but FMAB should not disappoint. It's worthy of all the hype.
Give it a try. See it through the first five episodes. It gets better and better as it progresses, I think.

I enjoyed FMAB much more than Death Note, and i liked death note alot so that should tell you how good this show is.
