I hate to rate films I shut off before halfway, but this is

meowful, a "2" at best. The most obvious flaws (in the first 40 minutes, I couldn't stand to see how much worse it might get)

The cat was the least interesting, least witty, least insightful character ever. THe cat was just annoying. otoh, the cat was the ugliest thing I've seen in a while.

Preachy. About everything & nothing at the same time.

Preachy about stereotypes yet full of them.

Blah blah blah, blah blah. THere. I just summarized the script for you.

Artwork? You call that artwork?

Actually one of the best parts was the arrival at the city near the end.

But I liked the first half too, so you may not like it either. That's too bad you cannot share in the great joy it provided for me, but that is subjective opinions of movies for you.

I loved this film. A beautiful, witty, and funny journey.

Can't stop the signal.

Me too. It covered a lot of turf and wrestled with a lot of issues, and you've got to be okay with that to appreciate it. Someone said it was self-indulgent, which is certainly true, but that's okay -- if it works. Not everyone is going to like this, but some will.

Currently streaming on Netflix and also Amazon video.

I wanted to like this movie and I did for the first few minutes, but found it confusing and tedious after awhile. Who is supposed to be the protagonist? The cat? The rabbi? The daughter?

I toughed out the entire thing and the more I watched it, the less I enjoyed it. Some of the various story threads just stopped going anywhere after awhile and instead of resolving them, they moved on to something else. To me, it was like the writer(s) got to a point where they didn't know where to take the story anymore so they just kept adding miscellaneous events and details just to keep things going. I know French stories tend not to be in tidy little packages like English stories, but this just seemed like a mess.
