After such a horrific car accident, possible debilitating injuries, and a LONG time in rehab -- Even if she did not have brain damage and could play again, would the acceptance still be there when she was ready to go to New York? She could be out of it for years before completely recovered.
shareIn the second book (I read a preview of it), Mia's social worker (I think that's who it was) mentions that she and her (Mia's) family had informed the school of what had happened, and they agreed to defer her scholarship for a year. Hope that helps . :)
shareIIRC, in the second book, Julliard does agree to defer her scholarship for a year or two, but that Mia doesn't agree to it and works really hard at rehab/therapy and is able to attend Julliard that year as she originally intended.

It is possible for her to play again, even with a brain injury. Depends on how and where the injury affect her brain. PT would help strengthen her hands and arms. I speak from personal knowledge.
