It would have been much better if the writers focused more on a budding relationship between Tanner and Laura. The background and chemistry between the two was already there. As it was, the plot was rather weak and uninteresting.

I do agree that it would have been nice to see a little more of the budding romance between the two characters. I think the dance at the wedding implied the start of a formal relationship, but being able to actually see it would have been nice.
I think the major s/l here is the building of a relationship between estranged father and daughter. The possible romance between the father and the lawyer was a secondary s/l. IMO I really liked the movie. 🌻🍀
