Where have all the good films gone?

The gothic fantasies, decent script-led well-acted hard core sf movies?

What we seem to be getting is one endless stream of Sy Fy (whoever thought THAT up needs shooting) low quality content, but guess what: the budgets ARE generous.
Don't assume they're not, its the quality or lack of; directors, producers, actors, script writers, costume design, and sound that aren't pulling their weight. Don't get me wrong: they all have degrees and diploma's just little COMPETENCE.
Many times you see the set personnel going through the motions not really engaged in the shoot all because funding wasn't in the megabux range.

Remember all those old British and American films (all genre's) made on a shoestring that are considered classics today?
Yes, some of them had laughable effects but the story was king and actors disarmed disbelief long enough to produce some very decent scenes.

It's about time people started voting with their wallet if they ever end up wanting decent story-led films.
