umm, what? (lay off the drugs part 2)

Yet once again, another amazing mathematical performance by IMDB. How this movie has a one when the numbers show voting is almost equal between one and ten, with the greater number of actual votes above 5 even, how does IMDB only rate it a one?

17 IMDb users have given a weighted average vote of 1.0 / 10

Demographic breakdowns are shown below.
Votes Percentage Rating
6 35.3% 10

1 5.9% 8
2 11.8% 7

So what does that mean?
IMDB rates movies based on how much money they received from the movie producers and not on what do ppl actually vote on? It seems like it, doesn't it?

IMDB weights negativity higher to insure that the filmmakers who made the movie don't jack up the ratings of a bad movie.

What they didn't count on is the astronomical number of immature haters who give every film that isn't a theatrical release a "1" just because Michael Bay didn't do it.

On films like these (which I've made) I tend to look for reviews by people who actually took the time to watch the film and to sit down and review it. www.dreadcentral.com is a good website with many, entertaining reviews.

The IMDB system is not fool proof but they do balance itself out from the gross inflation on the positive and negative end of the spectrum.

Yeah... you're absolutely right. I hate that. If they liked a movie it's a 10, if thewy didn't, it's a 1. It makes me think they were all home schooled :). You know either you got a "star" from your mommy, or you didn't... nothing in between.

The idea has it's merits. That is why I don't pay attention if voter number isn't past a 1000. If film makers would go so far to hype up the film, it would no longer be cost effective. Yet past that number... and the example in the quote above shows, it is detrimental to the actual public opinion.

P.S.
Again... I apologize for refreshing old topic, but I don't visit this forum that often, and when I do, I only occasionally review my old posts, and just because it's old, doesn't mean it has lost it's meaning.
