Top 3 Favorite/Least Favorite of All-Time

It's probably been a thread done a million times over, but who are your top three favorite and least favorite queens from all eight seasons?

Favorite:
1) Pearl
2) Alaska (overrated, but fun as hell)
3) Bianca Del Rio

Least Favorite:
1)Alyssa Edwards
2)Laganja Estrange
3) Phi Phi O'Hara

Runners Up
Favorite: Ivy Winters
Least: Roxxxy Andrews

reply

Favorites: Bianca, Jinkx, Sharon or Adore or Bob or Violet (I can't pick)

Least favorites: Phi Phi, Carmen, Gia Gunn

reply

Ugh, I forgot about Gia Gunn. I also am not a huge fan of Violet, but at the same time, some of her looks are amazing (season 8 finale dress when she passed the crown?)

reply

Violet shouldn't have lowered herself to do this silly show! I'm no fan of the art, but she obviously has it "down pat" because she was flawless every challenge! From Day 1 on, little could be criticized! Of course Michelle had to get her dig in when they did the nude illusion challenge by saying "I'm still getting boy!" It wasn't an illusion; Violet was naked with a piece of duck tape and a smile!   

Update: Pulled out tape and just saw Miss Fame on day 1! She was just as "cinched to the Gawds" as Violet! The tattoos were too much though! 

I am glad that you brought that point up. IMO, if a queen is trying to recreate a retro-look, the tats look all wrong and there are foundations to cover them perfectly.

So why don't they use them?

Either lazy or just don't care! Miss Fame from last season had a ton of them too! The b!tch never covered them up; actually emphasizing them for the most part! I don't like them; much less covering a person from head to toe! It's the silliest thing that has truly gotten out of hand; men and women alike!  

I agree with you that Violet was underrated in her season, but I certainly don't agree that the show was below her... She has a style of drag which was never represented before, extremely high fashion, but it is still a style, and its not like she is too successful for the show. The winning would hsve propelled her fsr in which ever direction she was to ever go in.. The only queens that the show would be below them are the already very successful queens that the show couldn't do for them what they have already achieved, such as Jackie Beats, Lady Bunny, Charlie Hides...

As for the "Nude Illusion" challenge, you obviously didn't understand the task.. It is still a drag contest, they called it "Nude Illusion" because they aren't women they are men, doing the illusion of women, so it had to be an illusion. The illusion part couldn't be ignored. Kathy Griffin was the only one to actually defend Violets efforts to some sort of redeemable quality by saying she could have represented those stick figure high fashion runway models who are so skinny they don't have tits... Coming out fully naked as a skinny boy is not drag... Except if what you were going for is what Kathy mentioned. Then it is, but its pretty weak and really a cop out...

But that's how it is for some of these models; skinny like a 12 year old boy! I think it was quite apropos! Violet really never made a false step and impressed from day one!  

reply

Ok fair enough, but that isn't what you said. You were defending him on a "naked" platform. As him coming out as a naked boy was a good thing.

I rarely care for any of these "trying" runways! Sometimes I think it's just to humiliate and entertain by laughing at these poor schmoozes! Some are quite professional, but these challenges bring them back to the pack at times!  

True dat!!!

After 8 seasons, every week is a different runway concept, it must be hard coming up with new ones that are actually relevant..

I didn't think the way they portrayed the "Nude Illusion" concept to be relevant at all. I understand they are creating the illusion of a woman by doing drag, but who has ever actually gone out as a "nude" woman as drag?

I really thought it was going to be like Detox look on the Pink themed runway of her season, see pic link below. Where she was still dressed but scantily dressed but gave a real illusion of being naked. That would have been appropriate.

I know everyone loves Violet but I don't. She only won because She is besties with Miley. How was she perfect she couldn't sing , dance or do anything. I don't like queens who say hey I am 21 and weight 90 pound so i can just wear underwear and everyone will love it. Also i found it *beep* that Pearl got told that she sucked when she the same thing.

reply

Violet has amazing style, walk and make up skills. Also she never really got a chance to show off her real talent. She is a talented aerials artist and burlesque dancer. She also did very well in alot of the acting/comedy challenges like Spoof! (There It Is) and Glamazonian Airways. I think she also won the Prancing Queens dancing challenge with Katya. Her sewing challenges were also really on point (Hello Kitty).

Her waist may have made her famous, but she truly is a talented queen.

I wouldn't say I'm a "huge fan" either, but I listed her as a favorite because I love the pinup/burlesque style and I had SUCH a lady crush on her, which few queens have done aside from Porcelain. I have tons of favorites but I just put my top 5, but Bianca and Jinkx are definitely the top of the list.

Gia Gunn was just SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO horribly boring! I mean "absolutely, absolutely".

I have EXORCISED the demon

reply

Gia's early "shade" in the opener was hilarious though! The others played well off of it; esp. calling Bendela old, April cute, & Adore's comment on her Hula Hoop purse! I crack up each time I see it! I guess that the last I cared for Laganja due to her entrance and "death drop!" As Ru said, "best entrance of all time!"

I really think a lot of your choices aren't really fair to the topic.. Most of the drag queens really do have redeemable qualities as a drag queen even if you don't agree with them. You have to see they do have decent qualities, Darienne Lake came fourth, may you don't agree to that but she certainly deserved top five or six... Her performance in the horror movie task was absolutely the one of the funniest moments in RuPaul's Drag race history. She had the least amount of lines and screen time and was only a head, but she absolutely stole the show. Phi Phi O'Hara was such a bitch but she made up for it a little with her performances and looks..

My top 3 are, in a rough order, because my views on them change with my tastes:

Chad Michaels
Willam
Courtney Act
Manila Luzon

Honourable mentions are Alaska, I'd put her in top except for her personality in All Stars. But an amazing drag queen. Bianca Del Rio and Darienne Lake. I loved her, she is so funny, and shady but in a good way not really bitchy unless you are too uptight.

My bottom 3, I only have 2, because there were only ever 2 on the show without any drag queen qualities:

Sarena Cha Cha (She wasn't drag, she hammed it up and thought she was a high level conceptual artist that could be portrayed as drag)

Magnolia Crawford (She obviously wasn't professional in her drag, she came across as just a guy doing drag here and there, when it suited her)

Honourable mentions:

Monica Beverly Hillz (she wasn't drag, she was a transitioning transexual, I find it to be a conflict to be a trans and a drag queen)

Monique (she was piss poor but at least she was a professional queen)

Phoenix (she had some decent looks but was very poor in challenges)
