Chun-Li's handstand

I'm just curious about Chun-Li's handstand.Before you fight as her(or against her)you see her palms flat on the ground as if she's doing a handstand.But when her legs land on the floor it kinda looks like she dropping down from somewhere.Is she?Can somebody please explain this to me?
