"I think the movie lost pretty much all its meaning after Chloe and Catherine slept together."
You don't specify what symbolism you saw.
The symbolism that I detect makes the ending perfect. It has meaning.
Catherine was looking to reconnect with her husband, but what she found was a spiritual love.
How does Christian symbolism invalidate the ending?
I think Chloe pays the price for Catherine's sins. Catherine is manipulating and controlling -- that's not love. Chloe shares her light and grace with Catherine and Michael, but not with David, who is the darkness.
"I think it's time to see Amanda sticking guns in people's faces."
