The "how do you do this?" monologue

I have been watching this film over and over again, and with each viewing, falling more in love with Amanda's acting in it. The nuances, little details she puts into Chloe's troubled personality are amazing. In this particular scene Chloe is so fragile, you can see the pain in her eyes. By the end of the scene when she says people like Catherine walk into her life, Chloe is not playing along to what the client wants, she is confessing she is in love. But self-centered, control freak Catherine can only think about herself and her "cheating husband", ignoring the girl's feelings.

Yes!

I've long admired Amanda's acting in this.

She seems about to cry at any moment! It's very moving.

Really outstanding acting by her.

Yes.

There's a similar scene in Jennifer's Body, but it's very quick.

Needy is cursing Jennifer at the pool, saying what a bad friend Jennifer was, etc. And when Chip spears Jennifer, you can see the pain on Needy's face. Well done!

I also like very much the look Needy gives Jennifer in the bar when they are holding hands. Such adoration on Needy's face!

Yes, I love how subtle and delicate Amanda can be when she is expressing the character's feelings. But she can be quite strong and intense too like in Chloe's final scenes (sex scene with the boy and last confrontation with Catherine).

Oh, Jennifer's Body is a film I just adore!

JB is great!

I've never experienced a film quite like it. I'm fascinated by it

Both JB and Chloe have the same essence.

Another scene in JB that I like is Needy cleaning up her kitchen after Jennifer's visit.

Amanda just bawls her head off. It's a very powerful scene!

Yes, amazing! I wish she did more stuff like Chloe and Jennifer's Body.

Nice acting, but I didn't a pitiable feeling from it at all. Chloe was a pathological liar and possibly a psychopath, trying to ingratiate herself into this woman's family through any means necessary, even if it meant breaking up a marriage.
She wasn't in love so much as obsessed. She wanted everything that Catherine had. Remember her looking at all the stuff in Catherine's bedroom as she's screwing her son in her bed?
She was a sick person, not to pitied.

I interpreted this as her looking at Catherine's belongings in order to get turned on. Notice how she climaxes right after she starts looking at them. And I don't think she's getting turned on by the material aspect of her belongings, but because it represents Catherine to her.

"By the end of the scene when she says people like Catherine walk into her life,..."

a very crucial remark, indeed.
The whole of character Chloe's so-depicted "profession" as a call girl, is what is changeing radically in the course of this story. And it becomes a mask for the true identity of the person. That is what made her name rightfully earn the position as title of the movie.
Title, for which i have a - far more revealing - alternative.
See my opinion about it in my Topic.
