If you had the crown, couldn't you just tell the giants

to split up in pairs, then each person in a pair beats/slashes the other person in the pair to death. If any giants are left alive, repeat the process by forming pairs, until at most 1 giant is left alive. Then that giant commits suicide.

On the one hand, they have to obey the order, because to not do so would be to reject their very existence. But if they do obey the order, they would erase their own existence. So I wonder if that would work.

Because most people are always divided between two divisions. In this example those who feel the threat of the giants would be worthy of absolute extinction and those that'd feel no matter how dangerous something Is you don't have the right to do so. Those who are willing to do what needs to be done are considered tyrants while Jack chose the path of a "noble" and spared them, simply returning them to their world.

Why not use them for free labour for a while - imagin the help they could give in bridge building etc.... hell, the British Empire would be a walk in the park

I am pretty sure that there instinct to live would overpower the magic in the crown

Absolutely incredible. I was thinking the exact same thing at the end of the movie. I even yelled "pair up!" when Jack came to the front of the group.
